Djokovic breaking through has unified Federer & Nadal fans?

I've been reading things like this on tons of tennis message boards. Why do people hate Djokovic so much now? Do you think his so called "arrogance" & "cockynes" is misunderstood for confidence?? What do you think?

  1. I just hate Serbians. Edit: I guess I hate Ana cause she's Serbian as well. When I was a child, Serbians killed my parents, burned my village, and formed tight cliques I couldn't join. Plus they support Bush. I hate Serbians.
  2. Yes. I can see it here on Y!A too that the Federer and Nadal fans are putting aside their differences to combat this new threat of Djokovic breaking the dominance they have on the sport. People do hate Djokovic because they think he is cocky and arrogant. Chris, how can you hate Ana Ivanovic? There is nothing not to like about her. She is beautiful and has a nice loving personality. Edit: Chris - What nationality are you? Also what are you talking about? A strong majority of Americans cannot stand Bush and that includes conservatives. Serbia supports the United States but not Bush. When I said how can you hate Ana I knew it is because you hate Serbs but you have to give me another reason. I am a fan of hers and am always interested to know why people dislike her. Edit: donna aks- I respect the Serbian players. I like the story of how they came to be during the time of the NATO bombings. That must have been really tough.
  3. I see Djokovic as a little arrogant, but I think in reality he is just a young man still finding his way on the world stage. I hope he grows up quickly because I want to like him.
  4. I think he is a great player and has great potential. I like watching him play and his "cockiness" motivates him and his fans. I dont have a problem with that, especially since he gives his all. He has a varied game that I enjoy as well. I think most of the "haters" are just as upset that Federer was not moving well, serving well or displaying the emotion that his fans feel. Nadal was completely blown off the court against Tsonga's performance of a lifetime, there is no reason The biggest difference between Djokovic and the big 2 though is that they have been at the top for quite some time. I think Djokovic was definitely the better player down under, but lets see him back it up and defend his final in IW and Miami title. I am not ready to crown him champ until he can beat them on the other surfaces. I like the ranking system and since the big 2 are always consistent he needs to beat them regularly in the semis and finals, if he does he will be #1
  5. I don't hate Djokovic I dislike him with a passion. His cockiness & arrogance is not misunderstood, what you see is what you get. But I completely agree with your 1st question about the Fed/Nadal fans uniting. check out this article when you get a chance http://tennisworld.typepad.com/tennisworld/2008/02/rafa.html We can begin to talk about Djokovic as being in the same league as Federer and Nadal when he has been in the top five for two or three years... nobody doubts his talent, he has yet to show he is as consistent as them. You know what would be interesting? I wonder how the French Open crowd in Paris would give to a match up of Djokovic/Nadal. They've never been particularly warm towards Rafa. I know in the case of Djokovic/Federer they'll side with Federer bc of the history and he speaks fluent French.
  6. Djokovic is a good guy. Tennis needs people with character. I don't think, personality wise, that he is much different from Agassi or Roddick. Having these personality clashes is good for the sport. Borg vs Mac Pete vs Andre etc
  7. he is not arrogant, he's just serbian. all serbians seems a bit arrogant. it's just the way they were brought up. and i'm not being racist cos i'm half serbian lol. but i don't undersand why people hate serbians, like they're evil or something. they (as well as croatia and bosnia) have been through a LOT so go easy on them.
  8. People are just jealous. Haters always come out of the woodwork when someone else achieves something. It is more of a reflection of the people hating than it is about Djokovic. He's just being himself, and a lot of people can't handle it.
  9. I'm a Federer fan and I'm so glad Djokovic is around, and I'm glad he beat him at the Australian Open. How fun! I want the Djoker to stay around, make things interesting, keep it fun. I can't wait for Nadal to start getting injured and take his wedgies and tacky clothes elsewhere.
